When Joshua walked through our doors, he carried 13 years of physical, emotional, and neurological stress on his shoulders. His story was layered — a traumatic birth, speech and developmental delays, chronic constipation, an autism diagnosis, skin issues, phobias, and a nervous system that just never seemed to settle. He was anxious, unmotivated, and struggled to connect with others. One of the most telling signs? He couldn’t walk down stairs one foot at a time… his body just couldn’t figure it out. 🧠
But his parents, Todd and Michelle, were all in from day one. They uprooted their lives in Southern Illinois to bring him to our office for a 4-week intensive — two adjustments a day, six days a week. And in between those visits, they never stopped fighting for his healing. 💪
They took Joshua to the park daily to challenge and retrain his neuromotor system. They fed him the cleanest whole-food meals, prioritized sleep, and braved the outdoors despite his phobias of dogs and bugs. They sacrificed time, energy, and comfort to give their son the absolute best shot at healing. And it worked.
Within the first week, Joshua was running up and down stairs — and even conquered the fire pole at the playground. The once constant toy-jumbling and resistance to going outside? Replaced with ruck walks, weightlifting, and endless hours in the pool. 🏃♂️⚡️
His language blossomed, too. We were blessed to watch his communication skills unfold in real-time — from sharing jokes to belting out a proud (and hilarious) karaoke version of “Mr. Grinch.” 💚
And perhaps most beautiful of all? Joshua is participating in life again. His spark is back. His joy is real. And it’s only just the beginning.
To the moms reading this who see your child in Joshua’s story — don’t give up. The nervous system is always capable of healing with the right support, the right tools, and the right people in your corner.
