As a parent, you’ve likely spent countless hours searching for answers—trying to understand why your child is struggling with things like sleep, digestion, behavior, or emotional regulation. Traditional medicine often focuses on chasing symptoms or waiting for something “obvious” to show up on blood work, MRIs, or EEGs. But what if the root cause isn’t being picked up by those tools?
That’s where we come in.
At our office, we use a safe, gentle, and non-invasive technology called INSiGHT Scanning, a powerful tool used by trained Pediatric Experience (PX) Doctors to assess the health and function of your child’s central nervous system—the “command center” that helps control everything from digestion and sleep to behavior, learning, and motor development.
What Exactly Is the Central Nervous System?
Think of it as the body’s air traffic control system. It has three main jobs:
- Sensory: Gathering information from the environment
- Autonomic: Regulating things like digestion, breathing, and heart rate
- Motor: Controlling movement and coordination
When the nervous system is stressed, overwhelmed, or out of balance (something we call subluxation or dysautonomia), it can show up in everyday struggles: colic, constipation, frequent meltdowns, sleep issues, sensory overload, delayed milestones, and more.
Dr. Bruce Lipton says it best:
“The function of the nervous system is to perceive the environment and coordinate the function of all other cells.”
That’s why, even if you’re doing everything right—supporting gut health, working with wonderful therapists—there’s one thing often overlooked: the nervous system itself.
So What Makes INSiGHT Scans So Special?
We get it—words like “neurology” and “technology” can feel overwhelming. But the beauty of INSiGHT Scans is how easy they are to understand and how clearly they show what’s happening inside your child’s nervous system.
These scans don’t guess. They measure. And that makes all the difference.
Each INSiGHT Scan gives us specific information about how your child’s nervous system is functioning, where stress is stuck, and how it might be impacting their health. There are three types of scans, each offering unique insight:
1. NeuroThermal Scan
This scan checks how well your child’s autonomic nervous system is doing its job—regulating digestion, immunity, sleep, hormones, and more. It’s especially helpful for little ones struggling with:
- Colic and reflux
- Constipation
- Chronic ear infections
- Allergies and asthma
- Sleep difficulties
If the scan shows red, blue, or green bars or uneven “tug-of-war” tracking, that means the nervous system is working overtime and stuck in stress mode.
2. NeuroSpinal EMG Scan
This one’s vital for our Perfect Storm kids—those facing challenges like:
- Autism and sensory processing
- ADHD and anxiety
- Speech and motor delays
It measures muscle tone and energy, helping us understand how tension and imbalance in the spine are affecting brain development, focus, coordination, behavior, and more.
Some of the common scan patterns we see:
- Raging Bull: Constant fight-or-flight energy, linked to anxiety, restlessness, impulsivity
- Drunken Bull: Disorganized and uncoordinated energy, tied to sensory, motor, and learning struggles
- Raging Drunken Bull: A mix of both, often seen as kids grow older and challenges compound
The good news? Kids respond quickly to care because their brains and bodies are still growing and adapting. That’s why early, focused chiropractic care can make such a powerful impact.
3. Heart Rate Variability (HRV) Scan
This scan looks at overall balance and adaptability—two of the most important markers of health. We want to see that your child’s nervous system can respond and recover from stress, not stay “stuck” in survival mode.
If your child has difficulty with:
- Sleep
- Mood swings
- Meltdowns over routine changes
- Fatigue or “wired and tired” energy
The HRV Scan helps us understand why—and track improvements as care progresses.
What Are We Looking For?
Every INSiGHT Scan helps us detect:
- Where stress and tension are stuck in your child’s nervous system
- How intense or chronic that stress is
- What areas of the brain-body connection need the most support
We often explain the nervous system like a fuse box. If one area is overloaded, it can affect everything connected to it. By pinpointing the source of the overload, we can support your child with gentle, specific adjustments that help the whole system regulate and heal.
But My Pediatrician Said, “They’ll Grow Out of It…”
We hear this all the time. Unfortunately, many pediatricians still dismiss signs like colic, meltdowns, or delays as “just a phase.” But what we now know is that these early warning signs often point to underlying neurological stress—the kind that doesn’t just go away on its own, but can grow into more serious struggles down the road.
Our scans allow us to see what’s happening beneath the surface—often before symptoms even appear. That’s the true power of prevention.
A Personalized Path Forward
Once we’ve completed your child’s scans, we’ll put together a customized care plan tailored to their unique needs. Every adjustment we provide helps unwind the stuck stress, improve balance, and unlock their natural ability to grow, learn, and thrive.
The transformation we see in kids is nothing short of amazing—better sleep, more connection, fewer meltdowns, stronger digestion, and happier, healthier days for the whole family.
You Don’t Have to Do This Alone
We know parenting a child with extra needs can feel isolating, overwhelming, and exhausting. But there is hope—and we’re here to walk this journey with you.
If you’re ready to understand the why behind your child’s struggles and finally take a step forward that leads to answers and healing, reach out. The INSiGHT Scans are your first step toward clarity, confidence, and a healthier future for your child.
